Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update on Alexander Isak and Liverpool.
The future of the Swedish striker is fast becoming the headline news of the summer.
Liverpool identified him as an ideal No.
9 target and intially registered their interest in signing him informally.
But the Reds have since concretised their interest by sending in a bid.
DaveOCKOp exclusively revealed the details of Liverpool’s bid for Isak.
However, Newcastle have since rejected Liverpool’s bid also exclusively, with the Magpies deeming it too low for the 25-year-old’s signature.
Isak wants to leave Newcastle this summer and has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool.
With Newcastle looking to stand on his way, the Swedish international could be forced to hand in a transfer request as DaveOCKOP exclusively revealed.
Liverpool are ready to pay a transfer fee that could reach £140M with add-ons. The Reds could pay as much as £80M up front for Isak. It would be a considerable sum for Newcastle to receive up front.
Real Sociedad reportedly have a 10% sell-on clause inserted into the sale of Isak to Newcastle.
Liverpool are expected to return to the negotiation table but it will take one condition for Newcastle to agree on selling Isak, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The journalist has revealed that the conditions under which Newcastle can sell Isak is if they get a replacement.
“Newcastle said no to Liverpool’s bid.
This is probably why you see many reports on Liverpool not willing to bid again,” the journalist noted.
“But, internally Liverpool know this is part of the game.
There is still plenty of time left.
“Liverpool expected Newcastle to be strong on their position?
The only way for this deal to happen is if Newcastle get a top striker and decide internally to let Isak go.”
Newcastle want assurances from targets that include Ollie Watkins, Benjamin Sesko, and Yoane Wissa before giving the green light for Isak to move to Liverpool.
